Job Description:

Purpose of the Job:
• The Agile Project Manager (APM – (SCRUM MASTER)) is responsible for planning, leading, organizing, and motivating agile project teams to achieve a high level of performance and quality in delivering agile projects that provide exceptional business value to users. The APM may be responsible for managing several concurrent high visibility projects using agile methods in a fast-paced environment that may cross multiple business divisions. The APM may play a number of different roles in actual practice:
o At an enterprise level, leading and managing large, complex enterprise-level projects consisting of multiple Agile teams and/or requiring integration with other activities outside the scope of the Agile teams
o At a team level, playing a consultative role to help put in place the appropriate people, process, and tools and coaching members of the team as needed to optimize the efficiency of the project team
o In situations that require a hybrid Agile approach, using good judgment and skill to develop a project management approach that is suitable for planning and managing the effort to achieve the project goals within designated project constraints
• In performing these roles, the APM will be expected to use a high level of knowledge and experience in blending traditional project management principles and practices with an Agile development approach in the right proportions to fit large, complex, mission-critical, enterprise-level projects and with the appropriate level of planning and provide the right balance of agility and predictability.
• Management of program/project process stages (demand and pipeline, initiate, plan, elaborate, design, build, test, implement, monitor and control and close)
• Management of the supporting processes (e.g. scope, cost, quality, time, issue, risk, dependencies, resource, communication, stakeholder management).
• Stakeholder relationship management including engagement and facing off to senior stakeholders across the business and IT
• Management of large global teams (including Offshore/nearshore teams)
• Vendor relationship management
• Driving impact of IT delivered Business Change
• Adherence to and enhancements of Industry and EY standard SDLCs and governance processes (as applicable)

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
• Monitors and manages program/project baseline to ensure activities are occurring as planned - scope, budget and schedule – manages variances
• Proactively identify risks and issues on programs/projects - leading team to develop risk management and issues management plans
• Creates and implements strategy to mitigate shortfalls in timeline and budget; Identifies potential causes of missed deliverables and puts into effect lessons learned
• Anticipates problems before they occur; defines the problem or risk, identifies possible causes, works with team to identify solutions, selects and implements most appropriate solution
• Develop and manage plans to address program/project strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
• Ability to balance both the "science" of how to perform program/project management and the "art" of program/project management, which is learned through experience and skill training/application
• Analytical skills and problem solving skills needed to manage multiple factors on a program/project simultaneously
• Demonstrate business analytics to manage and meet sponsor and stakeholder needs
• Anticipates problems before they occur; defines the problem or risk, identifies possible causes, works with team to identify solutions, selects and implements most appropriate solution

Job Requirements:

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
• Project Planning and Management – Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organize and lead project status and working meetings; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning for assigned projects
• Team Management – Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members
• Business IT Support – Support the Business IT support in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance
• Process Management and Improvement – Define and manage a well-defined project management process and champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Agile Project Management
• Understanding of Agile Development Models (e.g. Agile Modeling, Essential Unified Process (EssUP), Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM), Agile Unified Process (AUP), Open Unified Process (OpenUP), Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), Feature Driven Development (FDD) )
• Champion the Agile Process, Guide Teams to Solve Problems, Participate in Transition Planning, find ways to reduce waste
• Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view
• Expertise of program/project management methodology, tools and templates (includes program/project planning, schedule development, scope management, cost management reporting) with extensive experience of delivery with supplier, off-shore and global teams
• Track record of customer focus, based on openness, trust, and delivering on promises and proven ability to lead software development projects and ensure objectives, goals, and commitments are met
• Experience across packaged and bespoke systems and infrastructure, ideally on an international basis
• Management skills to manage one or more large, complex programs/projects simultaneously
• Strong team working skills across matrixed client, supplier and geographically dispersed virtual teams
• Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level
• Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
• Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs with the ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence

Supervision Responsibilities:
• Direct supervision and support provided by an experienced Program Leader, usually on a weekly or as needed basis
• Program manager is expected to be self-driven and motivated, lead and act independently to deliver program/project to schedule, budget and scope; support will be provided from an experienced program Leader as required and requested
• Program manager leads program/project teams consisting of cross functional, global, and virtual groups
• Directly supervises staff within reporting line as well as matrix teams; assigning responsibility to members and monitoring progress
• Program manager coaches, mentors and supports less experienced program/project managers as well as other project resources as needed

Job Requirements:

Education:
• A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline; or equivalent work experience
• Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects. PMI-ACP, CSM, or equivalent preferred

Experience:
• A proven track record of successfully implementing software or web development projects using Agile methodologies (including functioning as Scrum master) including 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager managing large, complex projects in a high-tech development environment with large multi-function teams. PMP preferred
• Other relevant experience in a related technical field (application development, deployment/implementation and infrastructure)
• Work experience in a professional services and/or global IT consulting industries preferred
• Experience of development in SharePoint (2013 preferred).
• Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment
